There are many different games in which your child will be playing. These games will culminate with a final tournament at the end of the week for the best teams. In this section we will go over what the weekly tournament schedule will look like and do a quick overview of the ceremonies that families will be attending.
Tournament Pool Play
These are the general games that all players will participate in. They run from Sunday through Tuesday and will follow a standard daily schedule unless there is a rain delay. In the case of rain delay games may be played at any time- day or night. This ensures that the all teams will get a fair chance to compete for the trophy ceremony at the end of the week. 30 minutes after the last night game is played Cooperstown Dreams staff will post the final seed rankings to determine which teams will be making it to the finals. The championship tournament (single elimination) starts on Wednesday at 10:00 am and continues until Thursday evening.
The single elimination tournament will use bracket play to ensure that only the best teams advance to to the next round. Of all of the teams the top 30 will receive 3 byes in order to rest up. The games will be played in sequential order with each ranked team playing the next ranked team and so on. The ranks will be determined by wins as well as runs allowed. This means that the higher ranked teams will play less and have less of a chance to lose their coveted spot.
The final game of the camp will be played on Thursday evening and this game will determine who reigns champion at Cooperstown Dreams. For the winners there will be a special medal ceremony which will include championship t-shirts and a photography session for the winning teams and coaches. Parents, friends and other family will all be allowed to attend the closing ceremonies and camper’s can be picked up right afterwards.
