After you arrive in the Cooperstown area and get settled into your accommodations you will have a few things to do relating to the Cooperstown Dreams baseball tournament- registration, drop off, team meetings etc. Once your budding MLB star is all set up there are also a number of activities available that can involve the whole family or just Mom and Dad. In this section we will go over what you should do as soon as you arrive in the area.
Cooperstown Dream Baseball Tournaments will run from June 6th through September 4th. All of these weeks will hold tournaments for players 12 and under with 104 teams each week for a total of 1,350 teams every season.
Early Check In/Check In
It is highly recommended that your camper take advantage of early check in which occurs on the Friday of the weekend before camp at 6 pm at the Baseball Village Dining Pavilion. At that time you can engage in full team check in alongside your teammates or on your own. You will also be able to submit medical forms and waivers, set up team accommodations, set up team and individual studio time, set up a time for your camper’s laundry and start the process of team pin trading. If you miss the early check in for whatever reason standard check in will occur on the following Saturday promptly between 8:30 am and 11:30 am.
Check in/Registration Forms
During check in/registration you will need to submit all of the forms required for your camper to attend Cooperstown Dreams. These include Parental Authorization and Consent forms, Agreement to Participate with Waiver and Release of Liability forms, Camp Health History and Examination forms as well as Birth Certificates from all players. All of the forms that you submit must be completely filled out and signed by a legal guardian. All forms have to be put together in a standard three ring notebook or a binder. There is also a camp health history examination which will be filled out by camp coaches or counselors.
After Check In
Right after check in and orientation campers will be served the first meal of the weekend. It is very important that your player make it to registration and orientation on time- otherwise they will miss out on a ton of important info and bonding time with other campers. If you are taking advantage of early check in you will be able to unload all of your camper’s equipment and belongings from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm on Friday night. If you are utilizing standard check in you will be able to do so between the hours of 8:30 am and 11:30 am. Regardless of when you check in you will only have 5 minutes to unload their equipment. After 5 minutes you will be required to park your vehicle. This is for safety reasons as well as to help reduce congestion.
Once your player is all checked in both parents and family members will be required to vacate the premises by 11:00 am on Saturday. Prior to departure time there will be a family breakfast which is technically optional but highly recommended for parents and families to attend. Both the family breakfast and the chicken barbecue will cost an additional amount per person attending. You will be able to meet other families and kind of get an idea of what will be going on all weekend. There will also be an optional chicken barbecue from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday and 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Thursday. This barbecue is not included in your initial registration fee and tickets must be purchased for each extra family member who wishes to attend.
Taking Your Camper Off Campus
After this point if you are looking to take your camper off of the Cooperstown Dreams campus you must be an authorized legal guardian and you must also complete a sign out form which you can find at any of the numerous security booths, at the Baseball Operations Center in the Family Pavilion and at the Village Office. You will be able to visit with your player and watch their games during the week but taking them off the grounds will require the aforementioned form.
All of the teams participating at Cooperstown Dreams will have daily games as long as the weather permits. The standout teams in these games will eventually participate will start promptly at 8:30 am on Wednesday afternoon for the single elimination championship tournament and will continue through Thursday afternoon with the championship game after the fireworks display on Thursday night. All campers will be required to check out by 9:00 am on Friday morning.
